Acrylics do work well on leather. Reason I know is because my brother work on restoring an old Lamborghini and when it came to the leather seats they tried everything to restore them and nothing seemed to work , so he decided to try acrylic latex paint. And it work perfect and did not chip or come off. Not only that the seats were black and the fellow who owned the car wanted white leather seats so my brother used white acrylic paint and it turned out terrific he said. The owner loved them and was well satisfied with the job they did on the car.

Yes it does. For a lasting image you will need to use acrylic gesso first, then paint your image over it.
