I m trying to paint a gift box black with the texture of a vinyl record. Would using normal acrylic paint and then using a fine-toothed comb do the trick? Or would I have to mix the paint with a texturing element? Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Acrylic is a little thin for this. You can mix in pigments. Some people mix sand in to get certain textures. Experiment - acrylics are cheap enough to experiment with.

you need a texture and a fine tooth comb will not allow this use a comb with larger spaces to allow the teeth to cut through without gathering it up spread some plaster filler over the area mix it nice and stiff use a pallet knife to spread it thinly then draw the comb through it and paint it when dry it is a suggestion as in everything its the skill of the artist
