I have this plain blue metal water bottle, and I think it's too boring.
So I wanted to splater paint it, but which kind of paint would stay on?

you need to sand the bottle with water proof sand paper ranging from 400 to 50. its hard work but the idea is to give the metal a ridged surface rather than its smooth surface so that the paint can sink in and stick.

There is a paint made for crafts that works on metal and I believe is non toxic. here is a link. The problem is that it might not last long.

I would think that Testors paint would work better (the one used car models), but I believe that one is toxic and you may not want to use it.

In any case, maybe you can ask the person in the craft store.
