Can acrilic paint be used outdoors? I want to paint something onto a rock for a friend. I think she's going to put it near a pond. If acrilic paint is not the answer, what kind can I use?

you can try oils, or even acrylic will do, as long as you apply a coat of varnish over the completed rock.

You can buy patio paints for outside crafts. I put acrylic painted crafts outside all the time. I have used the patio paints on somethings but not all of them. You might want to at least consider basing the rock with the patio paint and then use regular acrylic paints (if you have them) for the detail. Then be sure to spray with a clear varnish or some kind of protectant. Then spray it every so often with the spray. For instance I spray my seasonal items with a top coat before I put them out for the season. If it is something I left out year round I would spray it at least 2 times a year.

Good luck. P.S. there are some books on rock painting (which I have never tried) maybe find one and read the steps in the book for any helpful hints. The acrylic paint websites are good also. good luck

Since acrylic paints are water base I think you should use an oil base paint. Check with your local hardware store and seek more advice on the oil base brand/s you should buy. You can't use water base paints for mainly projects that will be mainly in water or near water (like near the pond) over time splases of water will affect the paint.

On the other, latex paints are mainly water base and some of these paints have a high level of water resistant. Please check your local hardware store. Enjoy the project!

first ideal to manage the plywood even if it truly is a common plywood. then use knotting on the knots. Then used wickes outside primer undercoat and black gloss. you do not desire darkish gray undercoat because black covers at the same time as undercoat so properly with 2 or perhaps extra helpful 3 coats. bypass for wickes its the perfect fee and there quite isn't a lot genuine distinction in high quality of paints. the tremendous good thing about utilising the Dulux outside paints is the very speedy drying cases. in case you're planning to do the interest on a dry day inexpensive paint is effective.

According to http://www.novacolorpaint.com you can use it outside.

Some colors, such as cadmiums, fade in damp or acid rain conditions. A clear topcoat will help protect against dampness as well as add an extra layer of protection against wear and tear.
