Actually, NO! He painted at home. Then, at the studio, he used the paintings he did at home as a guides for what was presented to the public on air. On his video-taped shows, when he looked to his side, off the camera's view, he was looking at the painting he had completed at home to guide him for the painting shown on air for his millions of viewers. He never painted, as far as his bio depicts, from any prison whatsoever.

He lived in Fairbanks Alaska- 6 where about 6 months of the year you stay locked up inside by choice either little happy trees or psycho killing spree
