Multi-media -- printing, lacquering and painting?

I am presently planning a multi-media work where I will first print a photoshop file onto high quality canvas and then work the whole thing over with acrylic or oil paint.

Is it a good idea to coat the print with lacquer and then paint over the lacquer

OR

Should I paint over the print and then coat finally with lacquer?

OR

should I do both?

I need advise both from the point of view of painterly qualities and longevity.

Thank you.

I think you should lacquer it first and then coat it with paint. Or do a test of another image you don't like first and see what it does.
