How can I sketch on a canvas for an acrylic painting?

I am doing my first ever acrylic painting. It's gonna be a black image and black text with a white background. I prepped the canvas with gesso already. I was gonna transfer the drawing over using a grid sketched in pencil.

One thing I'm worried about is the pencil......I don't believe it will be able to be erased and with a white background, this could be problematic. I also am hesitant about having to paint over it in white, as it may show through.

Any way to go about this? The painting I'm trying to do isn't good for freestyle either.....I need a grid for it.

If the pencil is used lightly, it can be erased. Don't push too hard or you'll end up layering paint to cover the line

Its very normal for the paint to cover up the sketch, but there are a few things you can do. (I'm going to assume that your sketch has a background and at least one foreground object) First you can paint the background using special care to avoid the foreground object but still painting to the pencil line. You can also paint in chunks, using only one color at a time so that you don't cover your sketch with unnecessary paint. You can also paint the background first then draw the sketch on top of the background.
