I think there would be something wrong if you really love art and want to be good at it, yet aren't jealous of someone who's better at it than you AND has the same amount of experience as you do. When you see the things you admire in their art that you know you can't do, it makes you jealous, but that should also give you the feeling of wanting to do better than them (oh come on, we've all felt like it at one point or another). Being jealous is completely normal and fine, and even helps you grow as long as you don't fall into the depressed stage of "why do I even try? I'll never be as good anyway".

There should always be a friendly competition between artists. It's better to be around artists that you may feel a little envious of bc of their skills bc that will push you to improve. The older you get you will begin to see other artists as safe havens bc there aren't a lot of creative people out there. It will be a relief to find other People who aren't stuck in the rat race like everyone else so you will be happy just to spend time with them. Artists are a rare and special bunch that should stick together and help eachother out.

I feel jealous of my friends all the time. I am an artists in a big group of art friends. It is very normal to feel jealous of your friends and fellow artists. The only thing you can do is aspire to better yourself. You have your own style from others and being jealous shows that you can improve your own style but you also appreciate other's work.

Better to be feeling jealous amongst art friends than in a gun club. Artists tend to help each other along and share what they know rather than fighting or putting others down. Artists rule!

Never jealous. I don't see that in any of my artist friends. Admiration is a better emotion. I think jealousy is an emotion that results from competition. Few things in life are competitions and those that are, are unimportant.

I have all sorts of tricks to stay away from the depressing envy...
I like to see it as: I wish I was as good as them, but I can be the best 'me' by not comparing to others but genuinly trying to improve myself in my own and honest way. and after all: it takes one to know one, so if I see someone is doing a great job, it also means I'm sorta capable of doing a great job myself, that is: if you recognize quality, it has to be in you too.
so: yeah it's okay to feel like this but never let it put you down, take it for encouragement to get better
