For instance, mixing red and white produces pink. Red and black make maroon. So, what color do red and gray make?

the short answer is mid tone maroon, grey is just a mid tone of black and white, but
mixing colours is not a black and white process, (pun intended) there are many factors that can and will change the final outcome, one of those is the temperature of the colour (is it a warm or cool red being mixed with a warm or cool grey?) also, things like shade will effect too (is it dark or light?)
and remember black and white are technically not colours, it can be argued that they are shades.
i just found this website that might be of some help

It depends on the tone of the gray. It would be anything from dusty pink to muddy maroon.
@the second answerer: Black and white are only considered achromatic in the RGB (additive color) spectrum. In the case of mixing pigments, such as those found in paints, inks or dyes, black and white ARE considered colors because they are subtractive, meaning the pigment must be present to absorb the specific light wavelengths and make the color visible.

I have a philosophical question... Is it still fifty shades of gray if she's on her period? Because that's how I found this page I wanted to know what color you get when you mix red with gray so I can get me answer and post on facebook!
